Most gambling systems rely heavily on prediction and likely odds. The odds change constantly in a game like blackjack or poker because the deck changing. If you’re looking at how to win at online roulette then you’ll possibly come across the very plausible system called Martingales. This system was first used in the 18th century in Paris - I’m surprised all the casinos aren’t bankrupt by now! It’s a very simple strategy that involves betting on an outside bet like red/black and doubling your stake each time you lose. So if you bet $1 on red and it loses you then bet $2,$4, $8 etc until you win. The idea is that you will eventually win and you can only lose by not having enough money to cover your stake requirements.

Now it all sound very plausible except the concept it is based on is known as the ‘Gamblers Fallacy’ - a widely documented mathematical fallacy. The very simple facts are that the odds of red or black coming up in our example are not influenced in anyway by previous spins of the wheel - if you get 14 reds in a row - the chance of another red coming next are still 50/50 (although on a roulette wheel - the 0 makes this not quite correct). The problem with the Martingale system in practice is that it can get very expensive very quickly as you will find out if you try it and you get red 8 times in a row!

All of us gamblers would love a guaranteed roulette winning strategy and these are spread all over the internet. Often they’ll come in expensive ebooks or reports but just as likely in a simple web page leading to a casino. In my experience in most instance these secret strategies are almost always based on the Martingale system.

The Martingale system was first used by gamblers in 18th Century France and in fact there are many variances. The simplest one though I’m sure you will have come across before. The idea is best explained by a toss of the coin - you bet on heads initially and if you lose you continue to back ‘heads’ but double your stake each time. This in theory would eventually lead to a win and a recover of all the previous stakes. In practice it usually leads to very large losses as the stake exponentially rises.

The Martingale system is actually loosely based on a mathematical misunderstanding called the “Gamblers Fallacy” which basically concludes that past variations can affect future results. Or in English if heads has come up 10 times in a row - the next toss is more likely to come up tails - of course this is not true as the previous ten results have no bearing on the next toss at all. Even if the ball on a casino wheel landed in red 100 times - the odds are still 50/50 (minus the 0 or house edge) on the next spin.

I have always loved casinos and have visited many across the world. The touch of glamour and glitz and the bright lights always cheer me up - I could honestly spend hours in them just watching the people play.

If you look at a cross section of people they will often be using their own winning roulette systems. The one thing that always makes me laugh is the little cards casinos often give you to right the winning roulette numbers in.

It amuses me for two reasons - the first is that if it helped you win surely the casino wouldn’t be actually encouraging this practice. The second comes from my basic knowledge of probability remembered from University - the simple fact that the passed events have absolutely no bearing on future outcomes in the game of roulette.

There is a very old roulette system based on something called Martingales which a lot of people surprisingly adhere to. The idea is that you place a bet on say the ball landing in red , if this fails you then bet on red again and double your stake - the idea is that if you stick to this method you will eventually be guaranteed to win. There are many problems with this as a winning roulette system - the most obvious one is the huge amounts of stake money you need to survive a row of similar results.

In practice the Martingale usually ends up with someone losing lots of money as they are finally unable to double their stake. The system is often combined with another false assumption called the Gamblers fallacy - that the next event is affected by previous events. That is if you get 10 spins landing in red - the next spin is more likely to be black

It’s surprising how many people make their living out of gambling and the numbers keep rising with the onset of numerous online gambling possibilities. Gambling obviously involves some risk and usually any game you play usually is weighted in favour of the house. The main reason most gamblers lose is emotion - they don’t know when to walk away, gamblers chase their losses and gamblers blow their winnings. So can online gambling software help you be more more clinical in your gambling habits?

I’m as guilty of all the above traits mentioned above - that one last bet to recoup your losses on the most open horse race at the end of the card, the “I’m not leaving now when I’m on a winning streak” but after all gambling is pretty fun as well. I’ve recently been playing the online casinos and actually doing rather well from it by using some online gambling software.

Now if you walk into a real casino then pretty much every outcome is possible - the spin of a wheel is the epitome of pure chance. Those silly cards that people religiously fill in for hours on end - working out that road to riches lies with the low numbers is a fallacy. The data you write on those card is useless and the casinos know this - which is why they helpfully hand them out. The outcome of a spin of a wheel is not influenced in any way by the last 1000 spins - all results are possible despite what your card suggests.

Lay betting is very popular for a very good reason. While it is often difficult or impossible to pick a winner in almost any race you can spot a few horses who are almost certain losers. For this reason, lay betting has become very popular.

Unfortunately, lay betting isn’t available in the United States, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t do a form of lay betting using dutching. The whole idea behind lay betting is that you are betting that some other horse will win because the horse you lay the bet on is going to lose. When you successfully lay bet your return is even money.

In order to achieve even money you can bet on three horses to win and if each is at least at 5-1 then you will double your money, the same payout as an even money score, if any of the three wins. But taking it one step farther, if you use dutching then you can distribute your bets in such a way as to make adjustments for horses going off at less than 5-1 and still show a good profit.

To be honest under normal circumstances roulette is not usually the best returning game at a casino. It’s advantages are it’s easy to learn and you can play at your own pace - but perhaps most of all it’s just fun.

Albert Einstein had an opinion about how to win at roulette - “steal money from the table when the croupier isn’t looking”

Now, Asians are more interested in the poker industry and always seeking out opportunities to compete in poker tournaments.

There are many poker tournaments that are held in Asia, with the Singapore Asian Poker Tour (APT) being the most popular among them. The APT that is held in Singapore is a prelude to Singapore’s 2 new integrated resorts, with casinos being the main highlight of the place. This is the first casino in Singapore and I am sure that this latest initiative by the Singapore government will definitely drive the country’s economy forward and make Singapore a tourist attraction.

Other than Singapore, Macau is also fast becoming an attractive destination for poker players and Asia Poker Tour. After the liberalisation of Macau’s casino restrictions, it has now surpassed Las Vegas as the highest revenue generating gambling destination in the world. More Asians are rushing to Macau over the weekend to enjoy poker games and it definitely makes it an ideal place to hold any Asia Poker Tour. As Asia is populated by almost two thirds of the world’s population, it may be a wise choice to introduce more casinos in the Asia Pacific region.

No one likes losing their hard earned money. Therefore, when you are in a casino, winning is all that matters. You need to put in your best effort towards winning at the table.

So, now let me share with you 5 tips that can help you to stay longer in casino and go home as a happy man:

1. Determine how much money you wish to spend. If you never set the amount of money you are going to spend in the casino, you will definitely overspend. So decide how long you plan to stay and divide your money accordingly. For example, if you plan to stay in the casino for 6 hours, you can divide your money accordingly by the hours. Then determine a maximum amount that you are willing to lose and do not bet beyond it.

2. Plan your casino trip. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Before visiting a casino, you should plan your trip. Call them up and enquire about available ticket promotions or entertainment options. When you are on a gambling trip, you should not stick to only one casino. Check if there is any neighboring casino around the area. If there is, call them up and ask the same questions.

Playing roulette in a casino is fantastic fun for me - I just love everything about it - the atmosphere, lights, free drinks and I even win money quite often. I love to gamble but I am very conservative in my gambling - I know that casinos don’t get rich if the odds weren’t in their favour. So when I hear someone talking about the next roulette secret I am always suspicious.

The fact is when I hear or read on the internet about the latest roulette gambling method that can’t lose - I usually find it’s based on either the Martingale system or the Monte Carlo fallacy.

Monte Carlo Fallacy

The Monte Carlo Fallacy or as it’s also known - the gamblers fallacy is simply incredible in that it is survived so many years and still believed by many people. I think the problem is that on the surface it’s so plausible and this is why it ends up being the basis of so many roulette secrets. The idea behind it is that any deviation from the mean will be counterbalanced by an opposite deviation. This means in English that if I spun a roulette wheel 10 times and it came up red each time - you would be expecting black to come up next to equal out the averages. The simple fact is that after 10 red spins (if we ignore the 0s) the likelihood of red coming up is still 50/50. Sure the probability of getting 11 reds in a row is very high but by the time you’ve rolled 10 - the next one is still 50/50. Passed events do not affect future events in a random game like roulette.

The gamblers fallacy is often why people sit for hours marking little cards in casinos studying passed events like how many odds, evens and reds etc have come up. So next time you see 6 black spins on roulette and contemplate putting your title deeds on red for the next spin - remember you are still taking a 50/50 guess.
