Many people find that the biggest problem they have with their soccer picks is that they are just spoilt for choice. There was a time not too many years ago when you were limited to the soccer matches that were played at the weekend, and the vast majority of those were played at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon with a few midweek matches if you were lucky.
It is now not uncommon to find that there are matches played every day of the week, at all times of the year. If you don’t believe me take a look at an online sports book like Sporting Bet and you won’t believe the amount of matches that are being played.
It also used to be the case that you had to bet a minimum of a treble, i.e. three selections in the form of an accumulator. As the only matches available for betting were from the English leagues you can see that you were somewhat restricted in your choice of soccer picks.
This is now seen as a bad thing, especially the minimum bet of a treble, but at least you had to specialise in only a few leagues. Now there are so many different leagues and betting permutations available it is no coincidence that the bookies are offering you the opportunity to bet on everything. They know that people will end up betting on their soccer picks for the sake of betting and they will inevitably end up losing money.
Although the various bookies pay good money to their sports book odds compilers it is impossible for them to accurately price up everything. If you have the inclination to study the odds available carefully and compare those offered by the different firms you may well find that you can develop something of an edge over the bookies.
A bit of advice if you go down this route, particularly if you study the more obscure leagues where the bookies may be most likely to be less accurate in their assessment, and that is to spread your soccer picks around the various bookmakers. Once you start having some success betting on some of the more obscure leagues that you may decide to study you may find that the bookies will restrict your bets or, in some cases, even close your account.
