Comrade or Foe?

This sort of poker player is definitely not your comrade. They are the types who assume that they know a lot about the game and will start to teach other who they think are wrong. They also have the bad tendency to berate and laugh to others who made mistake which is quiet insulting that can lead to the insulted player to leave the table or be better on his game. The bookworm’s poker skills should not worry you, only their behavior in the table.

Selectivity and Aggressiveness

The bookworm’s game play is pretty fool proof during the pre-flop. But their weakness comes during the post flop. They have digest so may books in their system with arguing ideas about continuing playing on the post flop. The books is merely a product of the authors who tried to justify their mistakes in poker by writing about them. The bookworm digest all those weakness and will battle into himself on doing the right thing to do making him very loose and aggressive during post-flop.

The only part of poker that the bookworm thoroughly knows in the strength of the starting hands wherein almost all poker player are in agreement with.

In short, the bookworm fall somehow on the aggressive category. They are willing to play along and bet unless others will challenge them. If challenge they will scurry away except when they think they have the best hand.

Predictability

The bookworms are knowledgeable to every deceptive trick in poker but they nothing near to be a deceptive player. They use the same style over and over again that you can actually predict what’s the next move they are going to take.

Poker IQ

In terms of poker IQ, bookworms have less than you think. They are knowledgeable that’s true but when something changes in the way things go, they are unable to face the circumstances. This is because they depend heavily on what they read that they even forgot how to decide for themselves. Unluckily for them, the authors of the books they read write on the generalized condition and not on the specific condition that they where in. They treat their books with reverie, set to worship them and follow those book in details.

They are so engrossed to their assumption that others should follow what they do because it’s right. Deviating on what they believe in is treason and worthy of being criticize and laugh at.

Adjustments

One of the best thing that you can do in order to defeat a bookwork is to pretend to be their friend. Start up a conversation and try to wiggle from them their tricks. As proud as they are, they will eventually tell you everything they know and will give you exactly the game play they use.

But if that fails, then the best way is to stay aggressive when you face a bookworm. Make them realize that you are not afraid with the tricks up their sleeves.
